Welcome to
Seniors United Against Misinformation
Older adults are among the most vulnerable to online misinformation, yet among the least likely to recognise it. In the EU, only 52% of people aged 55+ believe they can easily identify false information and compared to younger adults twice the number of older adults say they do not know when they encounter it.
The Seniors United Against Misinformation (SUM) Project addresses this gap by equipping adults aged 65+ with digital, media and information literacy (DIMIL) skills through community-based, peer-to-peer learning.
Transitions will expand existing programmes to specifically address the growing role of AI in spreading mis- and disinformation. Central to this work is the rollout of the peer-to-peer SUM Toolkit and methodology, adapted for Czech communities and cultural contexts.
Transitions will deliver five Trainings-of-Trainers sessions before 2027, equipping senior volunteers with the skills and confidence to lead peer-to-peer learning sessions in their own communities. These trained volunteers will in turn reach a broader network of older adults, building digital resilience within their communities.
The SUM toolkit will continue to evolve during the project with new examples, methodologies and lessons learned from partner countries so that it can continue to best support local organizations.
