Constructive News: Fostering Solutions Journalism Across Europe (SoJo Europe)
The project helped media outlets and journalists shift from problem-saturated coverage to stories that highlighted responses, innovation, and resilience. By providing training, mentoring, and grant funding, the initiative aimed to strengthen public trust and encourage constructive dialogue in an era of news avoidance and polarization.
With a combination of in-person and online training as well as collaborative peer-learning sessions, participating journalists were introduced to the core principles of solutions journalism: evidence-based reporting on responses to societal challenges that presented stories providing context and insight without losing critical depth.
The project brought together a cohort of 18 media outlets and journalism organizations to build a pan-European network committed to meaningful, impactful reporting.
