Senior Citizens Against Disinformation and Stereotypes for a Democratic and Diverse Europe
Older adults are increasingly exposed to disinformation, but are not consulted on what shapes their vulnerability to disinformation or what would best support them. Without an understanding of local realities, training programs cannot adequately counter these issues. By strengthening digital resilience, media literacy, and civic engagement, the CADiDE project supports older adults in becoming confident participants in democratic life and trusted voices within their communities.
Utilizing the successful SUM toolkit (https://www.wearesum.eu/toolkit/) and the Antirumours Global methodology (https://diversit.net/en/antirumours-global/), Transitions will run participatory sessions and co-design exercises across Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic to identify local disinformation narratives, stereotypes, and digital behavior. These findings will directly shape the training-of-trainers (ToT) sessions and peer-to-peer (P2P) training for older adults. They will also shape CADiDE's volunteer digital platform and local civic engagement events that follow. We will also adapt the training materials used across the consortium, developing practical guides that combine partner methodologies into a curriculum and track disinformation sources targeting older adults.
By grounding CADiDE's training and platform design in participatory research, Transitions helps ensure the project's response to disinformation is built on a clear and current understanding of the older adults we aim to serve.
