Welcome to
Building Resilient Journalism in Southeast Europe (Continuation)
This program aims to combat disinformation in the region by strengthening the resilience, professionalism, and integrity of journalism.
This initiative is anchored in a context of deteriorating or stagnating media freedoms and media literacy indexes in most of Southeastern Europe.
The ongoing conflicts in Palestine and Ukraine, and attempts at foreign interference through propaganda, continue to fuel the spread of disinformation in societies already deeply polarized, deepening existing social tensions.
In response, this program offers training workshops on core journalism skills and ethics for early-career journalists.
These are complemented by direct support for news production that debunks disinformation, including collaborative cross-border assignments.
The program also promotes regional networking among editors of independent outlets and consultative meetings with various information stakeholders to devise meaningful responses to the spread of disinformation.
