Some of the most important voices in Central and Eastern European public debate never reach an international audience due to the lack of language accessibility. Transitions publishes book reviews to address this gap – English-language reviews of influential local-language books from across the region. Our reviews are particularly focused on narratives that highlight post-communist debates, historical revisionism, and societal change in the region.

The program extends beyond Central Europe to include authors from the former Yugoslav states, Russia, and Ukraine, in an effort to bring perspectives that would otherwise remain invisible to English-speaking readers.
